Introducing Isa Metrics

Greetings. I welcome you all to the New Year. I begin 2024 with good news, particularly for me, but hopefully with time, for my readers as well. The Stupid Economics blog, which is entering it's sixth year will be getting a spinoff, Isa Metrics.

The Isa Metrics brand will focus on sports information and analytics. For the past two years, I have been a consultant to Fat Cats Podcast, that covers Ugandan rugby, ran by Edwin Wabwire and Reuben Kuhumuro, among others. I resist to highlight my blue blood connections, but I have known the gentlemen  since my school days. Anyway, the podcast is part of Fat Cats Media, an alternative media brand focusing on podcasting, videography and photography.

I have helped provide statistical and historical content for their rugby coverage. It is through this coverage that I birthed the idea to collect, process and analyse Uganda's sports information. Growth in media provided the impetus in the growth of statistical reporting on sports, and gave rise to entities like Stats Perform, Elias Sports Bureau and Stat Bomb. However, in the African context, particularly the Ugandan context, there is still work to be done to collect and process sports data and use it to tell insightful stories. I want to make my small contribution to that end through Isa Metrics.

I shall mainly cover rugby, and to a small extent basketball and football, with hopes of expanding to other sports in future.

I will still explore my general interest topics here; I am still exploring the dynamics of the "rolex" and why the Nyanya Mbisi of UGX 1,500/= is no longer available on the general market here.

Ceteris. Paribus.
